Brock is an associate responsible for supporting the team with the administrative side of our portfolio management area among other administrative tasks. Brock also supports the advisor with ongoing investment research and due diligence. Brock likes to think of himself as a wingman- jumping in to help the team and our clients wherever his experience can lend a hand.
Brock has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years, with 11 years in fixed income portfolio management. He worked primarily with Bank of America in Charlotte, NC, under several of the brokerage and asset management subsidiaries, such as Bank of America Investment Services, Columbia Management and USTrust. "Getting to work alongside three Senior Portfolio Managers with CFA's pushed me intellectually, forcing me to think more precisely about how we see the markets and the economy". He has an MBA from Winthrop University and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Lenoir-Rhyne College. He also holds FINRA licenses Series 7 and 66 through LPL Financial.
Brock resides with his wife and daughter in Tega Cay, SC, a suburb of Charlotte where they enjoy playing on the lake, running down to the beach, and hitting greenways in Charlotte for some outdoor exercise and brewery hopping. He is a music lover who once in a while can be found playing live with some friends, or just singing in the church choir. Brock enjoys being challenged by new adventures with the church such as hurricane relief clean up at Carolina beaches, middle school worship (live music), Room at the Inn service (housing the homeless in winter at the church), and most recently a mission trip to Guatemala for some home building projects.
Brock especially loves the power of "time value of money" - the concept which allows anyone, regardless of their situation, to secure a financial future through a diligent long term investment plan. Rarely can the pizza man get away without Brock seeing how wealthy the kid at his door could be if he simply started saving a little bit right now for the rest of his career. Too many people wait to “have money” before they save any. "I like to break that barrier down with anyone that will listen. After all, it was a great college professor that showed me the power of time value of money, and made me take the first steps to financial security in our ‘Senior Paper.’ It just takes someone to care and show you the first steps to success."
"Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
